A refractile granule which is an accumulation of Poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB). PHB accumulates in various prokaryotes when nutrients other than carbon sources become limiting.  PHB accumulations are then degraded by the cell when carbon sources are limiting,  therefore acting as a reservoir of carbon and/or energy.
