A curved rod shaped bacterial cell, resembling a crescent or incomplete spiral shape. Vibrio cells can resemble a comma by having one end be wider than the other. Vibrios (p.) also very in length to width ratio from long and slender curves to short and swollen kidney bean like shapes. Not to be confused with the "bacillus" morphology which comprises straight rod shapes (see bacillus). Not to be confused with Vibrio (representing the taxon).
